Our SENco

Dear Parents,

My name is Heather Manchett and I have the privilege of being the SENco (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) at Heswall Primary School.  This means that I have the overall responsibility for ensuring that all children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) are well provided for and supported within the school.  In 2015, I completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators and I am also the class teacher for Year Five children.

At Heswall Primary School, it is our vision and mission to try and ensure that all children have access to a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum so that they can reach their full potential.  This is no different for children who have additional needs and we pride ourselves on ensuring that children with SEND are as well supported as possible and cared for within our setting.  Our school is a warm, caring and happy place and we believe that we have much to offer those children with SEND.  We believe we have a good SEND record and our children make excellent if not outstanding progress through targetted support and intervention.  Also, we regularly liase with outside agencies to help ensure that all children's needs are being met.

If you have any queries or concerns about any issues concerning SEND, please do not hesitate to speak to either myself or your child's class teacher.  If you wish to speak to me, if possible will you contact the school office on a Monday between 2.15pm and 3.15pm.  If this is not convenient, I can also be contacted at the end of the school day.  Additional information can be found on Wirral's Local Offer, which can be accessed on this website.

Kind regards,

Heather Manchett
