Our SENco

Dear Parents,

My name is Heather Morton and I am the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) here at Heswall Primary School. This means that I have the overall responsibility for ensuring that all children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) are well provided for and supported within the school. I completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination in 2015 and I also teach Year 2 in the afternoons.

At Heswall Primary School, it is our vision and mission to try and ensure that all children have access to a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum so that they can reach their full potential.  This is no different for children who have additional needs and we pride ourselves on ensuring that children with SEND are as well supported as possible and cared for within our setting.  Our school is a warm, caring and happy place and we believe that we have much to offer those children with SEND.  We believe we have a good SEND record and our children make excellent progress through targeted support and intervention.  Also, we regularly liaise with outside agencies to help ensure that all our children's needs are being met.

If you have any queries or concerns about any issues concerning SEND, please do not hesitate to speak to either myself or your child's class teacher.  If you wish to speak to me, please contact the school office and either ask to make an appointment or request a telephone call. My working days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Additional information can be found on Wirral's Local Offer, which can be accessed on this website.

Kind regards,

Heather Morton
