Our SENco

Dear Parents,

My name is Abigail Dodwell and I am the Acting SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) here at Heswall Primary School. This means that I have the overall responsibility for ensuring that all children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) are well provided for and supported within the school. Alongside taking over as the school’s Acting SENCO, I began studying for my National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination, which I have recently completed. I am also one of the class teachers for Year Four children.

At Heswall Primary School, it is our vision and mission to try and ensure that all children have access to a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum so that they can reach their full potential.  This is no different for children who have additional needs and we pride ourselves on ensuring that children with SEND are as well supported as possible and cared for within our setting.  Our school is a warm, caring and happy place and we believe that we have much to offer those children with SEND.  We believe we have a good SEND record and our children make excellent if not outstanding progress through targeted support and intervention.  Also, we regularly liaise with outside agencies to help ensure that all our children's needs are being met.

If you have any queries or concerns about any issues concerning SEND, please do not hesitate to speak to either myself or your child's class teacher.  If you wish to speak to me, please contact the school office and either ask to make an appointment or request a telephone call. Additional information can be found on Wirral's Local Offer, which can be accessed on this website.

Kind regards,

Abigail Dodwell
