The Pre-School

The Pre School Plus Club was established at Heswall Primary School in 1984 and these days we share a classroom with the wrap-around club (which is also open to pre-schoolers). Our room is warm, bright and welcoming and is situated next door to the reception class.

We use the school hall for gym, music and movement and parachute games, so your child will soon become familiar with the school as a whole.

Plus Club benefits from excellent outdoor facilities, with extensive grassed and woodland areas, a jungle gym, climbing frame, teepees and playhouses, alongside a playground and wildlife garden.

We frequently venture up to the school field, with its woodland classroom, den-building area, fire pit, rope walks and bird hide. These give us wonderful opportunities to broaden our children’s imaginations, their curiosity, spontaneity and resilience.

All our staff are dedicated to ensuring that your child progresses and learns whilst having fun in a caring and stimulating environment. We believe that learning for pre-schoolers should be a combination of instruction and play with the emphasis on play. First and foremost, we encourage our youngsters to have fun. After all, it is important that your child looks forward to coming to Plus Club.

Your child will be allocated a key person, who will record development in a Learning Journal, and will always be ready to talk to you. Once a term you will have the opportunity to have a longer chat with your child’s key person when information on progress at home and at Plus Club can be shared. We actively encourage parent and carer involvement and you are always welcome to join us.

We provide a healthy snack of milk, water and a selection of fruit mid morning and afternoon. If you would like your child to stay between 12-1pm we would ask you to provide a packed lunch. During meal times adults and children sit down together and good manners and conversation are promoted.
